Ranking in one AI engine doesn’t mean you’ll show up in the others.
We ran the same buyer questions through ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity and compared which websites each one cited.
The overlap was tiny: - ChatGPT and Gemini cited zero of the same sources - Claude and Gemini: also zero - Perplexity and Gemini shared less than 1%
The closest pair, Perplexity and Claude, overlapped by only about 12%
Each engine is pulling from its own pool of sources. If your visibility strategy assumes “AI search” is one channel, you’re likely invisible in at least three of them.
What this means for your brand: - Track your visibility in each engine separately - Find out which sources each engine trusts in your category - Make your site easy for machines to read, so any engine can pick it up
AI discoverability isn’t one ranking.
